Age-Based Size Recommendations
• Size 1: Newborns to 6 months
• Size 2: 6 months to 20 months
• Size 3: 18 months to most adults
• Size 4: Largest alpacas
Generally, companies describe halter sizes for alpacas as Extra Small (for 3-6 months), Small (for
weanlings up to 8-10 months), Medium (for large weanlings and yearlings), Large (for most adults),
and Extra Large (for larger animals). It’s important to ensure a proper fit to allow for comfort and
effective communication while handling the animal.
