The Sopris Roughy is our replacement for the Sopris Classic Saddle, the saddle that spawned our business in 1985. (The Classic saddle was retired in 2016 but we will continue to service this saddle.)
Like the Classic, the Roughy is a frame saddle with hardwood horns. Two curved plastic bars (3/16”x 4”x 17 1/2”) attach to the horns, providing plenty of spinal clearance and a comfortable fit. The Roughy is durable, lightweight, weather-resistant, and easy to use, making it a good choice for commercial, recreational, and performance packing.

Use with Sopris Deluxe, Deluxe Lite, Standard, and Intermediate Panniers.

Fit & Setup
The front of the saddle is indicated by the rounded end of the saddle paddles and must face forward on the animal’s back. Velcro strips on the underside attach securely to the Sopris Split Pad. The saddle includes a 5/8” felt pad encapsulated in 1/4” closed-cell foam for cushioning and a custom fit across a range of animal sizes, including llamas, goats, and donkeys.
